Meet Z.

About Z

Z is a trans, queer, and neurodivergent licensed clinical social worker practicing in Tennessee, Georgia, and Illinois. They also work as a therapeutic coach serving LGBTQIA+ clients across the U.S. and beyond.

Z prides themself on forming strong connections with their clients, championing them in the various stages of their identity development and lives. They have often been called “the ultimate hype man” and lead with a directive, down-to-earth, and approachable style.

Currently, Z works primarily with transgender, queer, and/or neurodivergent clients. However, they also work with people outside of these identities who are seeking support and healing through an embodied, liberated approach.

Z practices therapy from a decolonized, anti-racist, culturally-conscious, and trauma-sensitive framework. They incorporate elements of narrative, expressive, and integrative therapy models, collaboratively coming up with approaches that work for each client.

Z brings 15 years of social work experience into the therapy space including advocacy, community action, direct-care, and leadership roles, most often collaborating with marginalized, low-resourced communities. They are also certified in trust-based relational therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), substance use and process addictions, trauma-informed treatment, and organizational development and leadership.

In their free time, Z enjoys DMing Dungeons & Dragons, curating playlists to match their mood (screaming Chappell Roan in the car), drinking iced chai lattes regardless of the weather, watching food competition shows with their spouse, listening to 90s country, and being a cat dad to three (very cute but mostly bad) cats.

Services and Offerings

Z provides psychotherapy to adults across the gender spectrum. They work primarily with transgender, queer, and neurodiverse folks as well as with couples, including those in nontraditional relationship structures. They are also open to working with people outside of these identities who are seeking therapeutic support through an embodied, liberated lens.

Z practices therapy from a decolonized, anti-racist, culturally-conscious, and trauma-sensitive framework. They incorporate elements of narrative, acceptance and commitment, expressive, affirmative, and integrative therapy models, tailoring their approach according to each client’s needs.
